I have always been fascinated with sculpture and creating things with my hands which was the first reason why I got into jewellery manufacture. I have a love of things that are ugly beautiful, things that are not attractive at first glance but a truly beautiful upon second look. I love the metallic shine of metal and the millions of different shades of silver found in one piece of jewellery. As I am from a tropical island nature has always influenced me and inspired me. I love unrefined, organic shapes and designs.

- My name is Genevieve Maurel, im a first year jewellery student studying in South Africa which is not my home land. I originate from Mauritius, a tiny tropical island in the middle of the Indian Ocean which I call home.
